Wahunsenakah issues Fellowship and Summer Service weekend patches
Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 held their final event at Bayport Scout Reservation on August 14-16, called the "Bayport Bash." The event served as their fellowship weekend, and a triangle-shaped patch was issued featuring E. Urner Goodman as the first recipient of the Vigil Honor.
Camp Pipsico was the site of Wahunsenakah's Summer Service weekend, held September 18-20. A turtle shaped patch picturing Arrowmen from different eras of Scouting was issued. Both emblems were designed by Barry Green, and include the Centennial totem recognizing 2015 as the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow.

Wahunsenakah Winter Service Weekend patch issued
Wahunsenakah Lodge issued their first activity patch of 2014 for their Winter Service Weekend, held Feb. 21-23 at Bayport Scout Reservation.
The solid embroidered oval pocket patch with attached button loop pictures an F-22 fighter jet against a sunset over water background, with "Saluting Our Military - Langley Air Force Base" lettering in addition to the Lodge and event names.
Recognizing the military is an especially appropriate theme for the Lodge's 2014 event patches since the Hampton Roads area the council serves (along with neighboring Tidewater Council) has the largest concentration of military bases and facilities of any metropolitan area in the world. Nearly one-fourth of the nation’s active-duty military personnel are stationed in Hampton Roads (Wikipedia).
Established in 1916, Langley Air Force Base is one of the oldest continuously active air bases in the United States. Today it is headquarters of the Air Combat Command and home of the 1st Fighter Wing whose 27th Fighter Squadron and 94th Fighter Squadron fly the Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptor.

Final 2013 Wahunsenakah Activity patch
Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 held their final activity of 2013, the Holiday Banquet, on December 7 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Smithfield, VA. To commemorate the occasion a large oval pocket patch with attached button loop was issued that continues the theme of prior 2013 event patches featuring ceremonial team members.
The Holiday Banquet patch includes all four of the characters from the Ordeal ceremony. From left to right: Nutiket (Guardian), Kichkinet (Guide), Allowat Sakima (Mighty Chief), and Meteu (Medicine Man). These characters were featured on the Summer Service, Spring Service, Fall Fellowship, and Winter Service patches, respectively. You can view pictures of all Wahunsenakah activity patch issues here.

Wahunsenakah issues Holiday Banquet patch
The Brothers of Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 gathered for their annual Holiday Banquet on December 1. Hosted by Pamunkey Chapter, the banquet was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Hampton. Guest speaker for the event was Eagle Scout and Brotherhood Member, Mr. Parrish Crosby; Virginia Air and Space Museum Scout Liaison.
In keeping with the prior 2012 activity patch theme of recognizing the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Holiday Banquet patch issued for the occasion features a scene from the Battle of Williamsburg, inspired by the 1893 illustration of the event by Kurz and Allison entitled Battle of Williamsburg-Gen. Hancock's charge, May 5, 1862 (pictured below).
The activity patches for Wahunsenakah Lodge this year have been outstanding examples of utilizing local features to highlight the unique culture and history of the region served by the Council and Lodge. The Lodge Insignia Committee deserves recognition for taking the time and effort to insure that the event patches served as far more than generic or standard themed emblems, but instead paid tribute to a significant part of our nation's past while highlighting the local areas involved. I am sorry to see the year end and the series completed. It will be a hard act to follow!

Oct 28, 2012
On the last weekend of October the brothers of Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 celebrated their Fall Fellowship at Bayport Scout Reservation, with an event that was cut short by the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy.
The Lodge issued an oval activity patch commemorating the Battle of Yorktown as the fifth of their series honoring the Civil War Sesquicentennial. The final patch of the series will be for the last Lodge activity of 2012, the Holiday Banquet held in December.
Thanks to Larry Johnson for the picture of the Fall Fellowship patch.

333 issues 2012 Winter Service patch

Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 held their annual Winter Service Weekend at Bayport Scout Reservation from Feb. 24-26, and issued a beautiful oval emblem for the event.
With a design very similar to their 2012 SR-7A Conclave flap, the patch pictures the historic Battle of Hampton Roads, also known as the Battle of Monitor and Merrimack.
The design of Wahunsenakah's activity emblems for the remaining events in 2012 will continue the theme with each following the same oval design with white background and red lettering. "Understanding our Past" will appear across the top and "Civil War Sesquicentennial" across the bottom of each patch, with the central design changing to recognize events at other prominent locations in the area served by the Council and Lodge. Be sure to watch this site to see them as they are issued, and check the Wahunsenakah Lodge Activity Emblems page to view every event patch issued during the 15 year history of Lodge 333.
Thanks to George Homewood and Rob Kutz for the patch picture

Wahunsenakah 2011 Summer Service patch
Wahunsenakah Lodge held their 2011 Summer Service at Bayport Scout Reservation on Sept. 15-17, issuing the rectangular pocket patch with loop pictured above. The patch was designed by the Lodge Insignia Design Committee and features a Native American Chief, the totem of Wicomico Chapter which serves the Chesapeake Bay District of the Colonial Virginia Council.
The Arrowmen of Wahunsenakah Lodge had plenty of work to accomplish in their efforts to help the camp recover from the recent destruction left by Hurricane Irene.
You can view all of the event issues of Wahunsenakah Lodge since it's inception in 1996 here.

Wahunsenakah Winter Service weekend patch design
Adviser George Homewood recently shared information about the designs for Wahunsenakah Lodge's activity emblems for 2011. The designs honor the six chapters of the Lodge and feature each chapter's totem. The first event is the 2011 Winter Service Weekend to be held Feb. 25-27 at Bayport Scout Reservation. The patch for the event features the red hawk, totem of Piankatank Chapter which serves First Colony District. Notice the clever way the W's have been blended into the cheek feathers of the hawk.
I expect to have a picture of the actual emblem soon and you'll find it on the Activity emblems page. Watch this site for additional sneak peeks at the awesome designs of the Wahunsenakah Lodge activity patches that will be issued during 2011.

Wahunsenakah 2010 Summer Service patch
The metal flap issued at the Wahunsenakah Summer Service weekend distracted me from posting about the activity patch issued for that event. I realized this when I consulted my friend William Weeks in East Texas about the unique varieties of ducks featured on Wahunsenakah Lodge's five 2010 activity patches.
William says the duck on this patch is an American black duck.

Wahunsenakah issues Holiday Banquet patch
On December 4 Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 held their annual Christmas Banquet, described in a prior post about a cloth version of the 2010 BSA 100th Anniversary flap that was sold there.
No to be overlooked is the fifth and final patch in the 2010 series of activity emblems for Wahunsenakah Lodge. The three inch round emblem with pocket loop follows the style of prior issues from this year with ghosted lettering that emphasizes the attractive design of a predominantly black and white duck on a monochromatic background that evokes a winter atmosphere.
I was so fascinated by the unique duck on this patch I spent some time on the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowl ID page trying to identify the species. Since I couldn't match it perhaps an expert can help me out by posting the answer in the comments.
You can view this and all of the Wahunsenakah event emblems on the Lodge 333 Activity Emblems page.
Thanks to Larry Johnson for the patch and for advising me the designer of the 2010 Wahunsenakah activity patches is Alan Booth.

Wahunsenakah 2010 Spring Service patch issued
Wahunsenakah Lodge 333 held their annual Spring Service weekend on May 14-16 at Bayport Scout Reservation, and issued the beautiful pocket patch pictured above. Like the 2010 Winter Service patch it features lettering that is ghosted into the design. In the upper left area of the patch "Wahunsenakah" and BSA 100th Anniversary" are embroidered into the background and "2010 Spring Service" is visible along the bottom edge.
Arrowmen attending the Spring Service weekend received a sharp greeting from Mother Nature as the roof of the Birdsong Center at Bayport Scout Reservation was struck by lightning Friday night, causing a fire. All of the Scouts were safe and the fire quickly put out by the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department. According to an email from Dick Collins, Scout Executive, the damage was limited to the roof and sheetrock and repairs have already begun.
